fumbling towards ecstasy

i think i've tried to read pride and prejudice at least 10 times. and i'm so sick and tired of hearing everybody say it's one of their favorite novels. i don't get it! what's wrong with me?! (lisa and christine, i know you're shaking your heads in disgust) anyhow so i tried, again for the 11th time. and it's funny because i know i've read the first page (or probably the first 50 pages) at least 20 times, so much that i think i've memorized the chain of events.

so, on this saturday night, i have several options. i can: (1) study, (2) watch tv/movie, or (3) attempt to read pride and prejudice. (i was re-motivated to read pride and prejudice when my friend at school said it was one of her favorite books and the rest of her "favorites" list consisted of books i liked as well, so i figured, if we have relatively similar tastes, i have to like pride and prejudice too, right?)

i'll let you know what happens.

***sidenote, amy made a comment today on the phone on how i suddenly got so insightful. i don't think that's the word she used but something to that effect. hey, maybe there are some perks to law school!

I refuse to accept that anyone can NOT feel completely moved by Nabokov's genius! Try "Ada, or Ardor". And, didn't you say you liked "Lolita". Erika?
